VeraBank Welcomes Sherita Graves as Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer

Henderson, TX – VeraBank is pleased to announce the addition of Sherita Graves as Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer. Based in Tyler, Sherita joined the bank in March 2026 and brings more than two decades of banking and regulatory experience to her new role, including time serving as a bank examiner with federal regulators.

In her position, Sherita oversees several key risk and governance functions, including Compliance, Internal Audit, Vendor Management, and Enterprise Risk Management. Her focus is on providing strategic oversight, ensuring strong frameworks are in place, and aligning these functions with the organization’s approach to managing risk and long-term business objectives.

Sherita's career spans more than 20 years in the banking industry, including service as a bank examiner with federal regulators. She has built a reputation for developing and enhancing risk management and compliance programs that not only meet regulatory requirements but also improve operational effectiveness across organizations.

“I’m honored to join VeraBank and contribute to an organization with such a strong commitment to community banking,” said Sherita. “This role offers a unique opportunity to make a broad impact across key risk and governance functions, and I look forward to helping the bank continue to grow while maintaining a strong and sound risk culture.”

VeraBank President Michael Moores welcomed Sherita to the leadership team, highlighting the value of her expertise and leadership.

“Sherita’s deep experience in both banking operations and regulatory oversight makes her an outstanding addition to our VeraBank team,” said Moores. “Her proven ability to strengthen risk and compliance frameworks will be instrumental as we continue to grow and uphold our commitment to excellence for our customers, communities, and stakeholders.”

Sherita is motivated by solving meaningful challenges and navigating complex issues within organizations. She is passionate about helping teams build strong frameworks and finding practical solutions that support both compliance and operational success.

Outside of work, Sherita enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and three children — two daughters and a son who is currently in college. Much of her time is spent supporting her daughters’ activities, including gymnastics and track, often cheering them on at practices and competitions.

VeraBank looks forward to the leadership and insight Sherita brings as the bank continues to strengthen its risk management capabilities and support its mission of serving communities across Texas.
