VeraBank Ranked Among the Nation's Top Community Banks
Great banking isn't measured in vaults or spreadsheets. It's measured in a trust that is built one relationship at a time.
VeraBank was ranked 38th among large U.S. community banks in S&P Global Market Intelligence's 2026 United States Community Bank Deposit Rankings. It's an honor we're proud of. But the more we've sat with it, the more one thing has become clear. This recognition is also about the people who made it possible.
What the Ranking Measures
Some awards are handed out by committees. This one is different because it's shaped by the everyday choices people make about who they want to walk alongside through some of life's most important moments.
The ranking looks at community banks with total assets between $3 billion and $10 billion, using data from June 30, 2026. It measures how well a bank earns and keeps deposits. That sounds technical, but the idea behind it is simple.
What it Means in Everyday Terms
-
Noninterest-bearing deposits: Everyday accounts, like checking, that people use for daily life. A high share signals loyal, active relationships.
-
Cost of deposits: How carefully a bank manages the money it holds.
-
Deposit growth: Whether more people keep choosing to bank here over time.
-
Deposit betas: How steady deposits stay when interest rates move. Stable deposits point to lasting relationships, not rate-chasing.
-
Reliance on time deposits, deposits-to-liabilities, and deposit efficiency: Signs of a bank that funds itself through genuine relationships.
In other words, to land in the top 40 nationwide, a lot of people had to feel genuinely cared for. That's the part that means the most to us.
The Customers Who Trusted Us
A ranking like this doesn't happen in a boardroom. It happens at a teller window, in a first-time homebuyer's meeting, in a phone call to sort out a genuine banking question.
Every checking account, every loan, every conversation represents a decision by a real person to trust us with something important. That trust isn't given lightly, and we don't take it for granted.
The Employees Who Live Our Values
Ask anyone on the VeraBank team what makes us different, and they won't point to a product. They'll point to how we treat people.
Our culture is built on three simple rules: work hard, do the right thing, and don't be a jerk. They're plainspoken on purpose. And they show up in small moments all day long in a warm greeting, a quick callback, and an honest answer to a genuine question.
Strong, steady deposits are really just a measure of good people caring about other people.
The Communities That Shaped Us
VeraBank grew up in these communities. We serve them through volunteer work, local giving, and everyday presence. For more than 96 years, we've done business the same way by staying true to our roots.
This one belongs to the communities and neighbors who grew up with us and helped shape who we are.
What Genuine Banking Really Means
You might wonder whether a single ranking proves much. On its own, no award tells the whole story. But this one lines up closely with the promise we've made for decades.
While "Genuine Banking" is our tagline, it's more than words. It's our commitment to honesty, transparency, and always seeking our customers' best interests. A deposit is more than a number on our balance sheet. It represents years of work, a family’s plans or the future of a local business. It’s the belief that every deposit belongs to someone who’s trusting us with something important. We never lose sight of that trust or the value it brings.
This One Belongs to You
Rankings come and go, but relationships last. VeraBank earned a spot among the nation's top community banks because of the people who trusted us, the team who served them, and the communities that raised us.
To our customers, thank you for your confidence. To our employees, thank you for living our values every day, not because anyone is watching, but because that's who you are. And to our communities, thank you for letting us be part of your story.
We are genuinely grateful.
