VeraBank Named 2025 Hispanic Business Alliance Community Organization of the Year
Henderson, TX – VeraBank has been named the 2025 Hispanic Business Alliance (HBA) Community Organization of the Year for its commitment to fostering opportunity through meaningful initiatives. The award recognizes the bank’s impactful partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas to facilitate the “Consulado sobre ruedas” (Consulate on Wheels) program.
This vital initiative brings essential services directly to Hispanics residing in 82 counties in East Texas. VeraBank sponsors event locations in 10 of these counties, including Tyler, Longview, Athens, Marshall, Henderson, Palestine, Mt. Pleasant and Corsicana, making it easier for residents to access important documentation.
Through the “Consulado sobre ruedas” events, Hispanic families can obtain passports, consular registrations (Matrícula Consular) and voter ID cards. These credentials are key to accessing essential services, opening bank accounts and achieving greater stability.
VeraBank’s support extends beyond financial sponsorship. The bank funds event venues, provides bilingual staff for assistance and offers technical support. While attendees wait for their appointments, VeraBank presents valuable financial literacy information on topics like building credit and preventing fraud. These sessions provide resources to empower individuals and help set them up for success.
Jesus Vera, Senior Vice President - Commercial Banker at VeraBank and the leader of this initiative, is deeply dedicated to making opportunities easier to access. "It's a privilege to work side by side with our community and the Consulate General of Mexico to help families access the resources they need," Vera said. "We are deeply honored to receive this recognition and share it with our community partners, supporters and the families we serve."
Each event serves approximately 150–200 people daily over five days, demonstrating the significant need for these services. Bank employees are on hand to answer questions and share information about VeraBank’s products and services.
The bank’s Front Street Branch in Tyler, which opened in November 2013, further exemplifies this mission with a dedicated team of 10 bilingual employees serving the community daily. By helping individuals secure identification and providing on-site financial education, VeraBank is making a tangible difference in the lives of Hispanic families throughout East Texas and beyond.
