Ask Alexa for balances & transactions!

 
 
 

The VeraBank Alexa skill provides the convenience of using your voice to hear balances and latest transactions through an Amazon Alexa-enabled device.

To open the VeraBank Alexa Skill, say:

  • “Alexa, open VeraBank”
  • “Alexa, ask VeraBank what are my account balances”
  • “Alexa, ask VeraBank what are my recent transactions.”

A 4-digit security passcode is required to be able to get balances and transactions through Alexa. This passcode is setup when enabling the skill.

When providing account details, Alexa will use the account nicknames you’ve created in VeraBank Digital Banking.

The VeraBank Alexa Skill can also be used within the Alexa app on a phone or tablet.

 

Get Started

To use the VeraBank Alexa Skill, you will need a VeraBank Digital Banking login.

  1. Open the ‘Amazon Alexa’ app or click here to go straight to the skill
  2. Open the menu in the upper-left and tap on “Skills & Games”
  3. Tap the search icon, enter ‘VeraBank’ and search
  4. Tap on “Enable to Use”
  5. Enter your VeraBank Digital Banking login
  6. Receive your one-time passcode from Digital Banking
  7. Accept the “Terms and conditions”
  8. Create your 4-digit security passcode
  9. You’ll receive a success screen and you can now ask Alexa for balances and transactions

Q: What account information can I ask Alexa for?

A: After starting the skill, you can say the following to get balances or transactions from Alexa:

  • “Balance”
  • “Checking Balance(s)”
  • “Savings Balance(s)”
  • “Transactions”
  • “Checking Transactions”
  • “Savings Transactions” 
 

Q: How to I stop the VeraBank Alexa Skill from talking?

A: Simply say, “Alexa, stop” 

 

Q: How do I use the VeraBank Alexa Skill using the Amazon Alexa app?

A: After you’ve enabled the VeraBank Alexa Skill, then to the following:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app
  2. Tap on the Alexa symbol
  3. Say, “Alexa, open VeraBank”

 

Q: Why is a 4-digit security passcode required?

A: VeraBank requires this so that your account information is better protected. Anyone who has access to speak to one of your Amazon Alexa-enabled devices could walk in as ask Alexa to open the skill. Without the 4-digit security passcode, nothing would stop Alexa from providing your account information to them.

 

Q: My 4-digit security passcode isn’t working, what should I do?

A: Disable to skill and then re-enable it to establish a new 4-digit security passcode.

 

Q: Is the 4-digit security passcode the same as my VeraBank debit card PIN?

A: No, the 4-digit security passcode will not match your VeraBank debit card PIN unless you make it match when creating your 4-digit security passcode.

 

Q: Does Alexa ever say my account number or other personal information out loud?

A: No, Alexa does not say these things out loud, because Amazon does not have that information.

 

Q: If I enable the VeraBank Alexa Skill, will Amazon have my VeraBank username and password?

A: No, Amazon does not have your VeraBank login or any other account or personal information.

 

Q: How does Alexa know my VeraBank account balances and transactions?

A: When you enable to skill, you connect Alexa to VeraBank by entering your VeraBank username and password. This is similar to how you connect to VeraBank for other websites. When doing this, VeraBank is not sharing your information or login with Amazon or anyone else.

 

Q: How do I change the account names that Alexa is using?

A: Alexa uses the account nicknames that you’ve established for your accounts within VeraBank Digital Banking.

To edit an account nickname:

  1. Login at verabank.com
  2. Go to “My Settings”
  3. Go to “Rename & Hide your accounts”

*Note that this renames the accounts in Digital Banking as well as in Alexa.

 

Q: Can I stop Alexa from having access to one or more of my accounts?

A: As of right now, Alexa will have access to all the accounts associated with your VeraBank Digital Banking account. There is no method to enable or disable specific accounts for use on Alexa.

 

Q: How do I disable the VeraBank Alexa Skill?

A: To stop using the VeraBank Alexa Skill, customers can do the following:

  1. Open the ‘Amazon Alexa’ app
  2. Open the app menu in the upper-left hand corner
  3. Tap on “Skills & Games”
  4. Tap on “Your Skills”
  5. Locate and tap on the VeraBank skill
  6. Tap on “Disable Skill”
